FATAMORGANA IN IRON (fence) and NOSSA SENHORA (objet trouvé)
The Grotto Shrine at Vivenda Santa Iria, Penedo, Portugal
After discovering and excavating an ancient long buried mill-race grotto at Vivenda Santa Iria, Penedo, Portugal, Kathleen creates a mosaic image in the form of Nossa Senhora, Our Lady of Fatima, placing found objects from the excavation on the grotto wall. The FATAMORGANA IN IRON (above) designed by Kathleen and fabricated in collaboration with the iron craftsmen across the way, keeps small children and dogs from falling into the grotto.
